this past friday night was my first friday night off from work for 2011. to celebrate, i went out with two of my good friends to a temporary store for www.whitecrowonline.com. i don't know the whole story about the website but the clothes were gorgeous and well priced. the store was online opened for the weekend so i tried on some pieces and walked away with one 'slice hem tee'.

seeing as i'm VERY short as a result of me being VERY asian, this 'tee' fit me as a dress haha :) i love it. i can wear it layered or just on its own as a dress. it's pretty wearable.

fashion show! fashion show! fashion show at lunch!

okok so it took me until tonight (wednesday night) to upload and resize my pictures from the aritizia spring/summer 2011 fashion show (sunday night). i am very lazy, my deepest apologies. i hope you will enjoy them. i took a lot more but i could just not be arsed to resize them all so i am only posting my favourite pieces. they're mostly wildfred, wilfree, and le fou pieces (obviously).









this show really was amazing for me. while it was the second fashion show for a lot of people in attendance, it was my first so i was like a little kid on christmas morning ie. going crazy, jumping around, shaking...you know, the works. the clothes were amazing, but apart from the fashion show itself, everything else was a little unorganized and on-the-spot. extremely behind schedule, too. all of that didn't matter though because *drumroll please?* the beautiful irina lazareanu was walking the show! she is just as beautiful in person as she is in her photos. it was a big surprise to see her walking in the show. she was flawless as always.

well i will stop for now. i have a speech to write for tomorrow so i must hurry on.

ps. i saw the kings speech today. all i have to say is that i love colin firth and i hope he wins best actor this year. that is all ^^

best picture noms!

i woke up this morning and checked twitter, as i do every morning, and noticed many tweets about the oscars. the golden globes were just a few weekends ago. i put two and two together, and figured out that the oscars were next month and the nominations were up. the only nomination that i truly care about is best picture. not saying that the other awards aren't important, but my favourite is best picture -_-

i am determined this year to see them all, or at least as many as i possibly can while not missing classes, and working. i've already seen black swan, inception, the social network, toy story 3 (best picture? it was good and all but...best picture? really? ok), and true grit. i only have 5 more to watch, which should be quite easy, and fun :)

patient for ponchos!

many many months ago, probably back in summer 2010, i came upon pictures of the h&m fall/winter 2010 lookbook and fell in love with this poncho. at the time, and still currently, i was going through a huge phase of shapeless clothing, especially ponchos. it wasn't until november or december 2010 that i actually saw the piece in h&m store but to my sadness, it was priced at $79.95 CAN, very much out of my price range for the time, and still right now.

god was good to me though because just last week, before i started my shift at work, i found the poncho placed in the sale section. originally $79.95 CAN, i purchased it 50% off. yes, you read correctly :) and it was the last one left! size small, too! oh god i was so excited, and i still am! i just can't wait until it is warm enough outside that i can wear just the poncho by itself over my outfit! i wore it recently over my parka outside because of the cold weather. i looked a little chubby, but i was happy!

ps. this sunday is my big event. very excited! will post picssss!

on a non-fashion related note...

... i am currently taking a web design course as a section of my media studies program for uni. we are encouraged to take part in social networking as much as we possibly can ie. twitter, youtube etc. by the end of the semester, whoever has the video with the most views will be awarded an extra 3% on their final grade for the course. me, being the overachiever that i am (not really -_-) i've already created my video. definitely not the only one that i will be filming this semester but just something short and simple to get the ball rolling i guess.

it's just a video of me making my bun, as in hair bun. a lot of people assumed i meant that i was making a real bun as in baking but sadly, i just don't mix well with cooking. anything to do with food and me is just...bad.

top secret news!

i am quite excited about my latest find. lately i've been trying very desperately to save the very little amount of money that i have but it just so happens that i have a real event to attend this month. this obviously meant that i needed something new and wonderful to wear. i searched endlessly but could not find something that i was deeply in love with. if i was going to spend my hard earned money, it had to be spent on something absolutely divine, AND IT WAS!

i recently received an email from the happy people over at urban outfitters that they were putting further merch on sale apart from what was already picked up during the craziness of boxing week.i picked up this lovely whirlwind dress by minimarket which was originally priced at $180 CAN on sale for $49.99. it's a size 34 so it ends below my knees even though it's supposed to be above the knee, but i like the way it sits presently on my awkward frame.



the really interesting bit is the 'whirl' section of the dress in the front. i cannot find the words to describe what it actually looks like but it basically has a twist in the front. please visit the uo website and zoom in on the whirl so you can get a better idea of what i mean. i suck at describing complicated things -_-

all i need now is some chunky jewelery and some wonderful heels to wear and i should be all set! class starts shortly so i must hurry off. enjoy my post. love xoxo

SUPER QUICK, SWEET, SHORT!~*

i feel super bad about not posting every day. too much school work, and if i'm not at school or doing homework, i'm at work until close. i come home after closing, and pretty much fall into bed and i'm immediately asleep. i don't even have the time to think about my blog. i do however i have some time right now to make a quick blog post before i start writing my last film essay. i hope you like it!

so i basically live in my tights and my leggings. i don't wear denim a whole lot, i don't even have that many pairs. i just find that a pair of black leggings or tights complete an outfit more than any pair of jeans ever could, and they don't leave me broke. i have one pair of tights that i swear by and those are my Mondor dance tights.

i used to work at a dance store in my hometown for two years so i knew quite a bit about tights in general. i knew about stirrup, footed, footless, convertible tights quite well. i've had my pair of black Mondor 310s for over 4 years now and they have never given me a hard time. i wear them for days, even weeks without washing them or skipping a day without wearing them. they keep me warm when it's snowing here and they are comfortable enough to wear in the spring and summer as well! they don't even have any runs or holes in them (other than a huge hole in the bottom of the right foot, which i purposely made by myself with a pair of scissors when i was in india. i was at a store and i wanted to try a pair of sandals on but i didn't want to take off my tights so i just cut the hole and tried them on!).

overall, they're pretty much the best tights in the entire world. visit the Mondor website. they have more than just dance wear :)
